• Squads

  

  Saints Lacrosse currently supports 3 competitive women’s squads, a women’s development squad and 1 competitive squad within the men’s programme.

  Founded in 2006, the Women’s Lacrosse Team has developed to encompass opportunities for all levels of player from beginner to full international. Whether you have been playing lacrosse forever or you are picking up a stick for the first time, there is a place for you at Saints Lacrosse.

  Women’s 1st/2nd Team

  The Women’s 1st and 2nd Teams currently compete in the top tier in Scotland – BUCS Scottish 1A league. Squads are picked at the start of the year through team trials, and players are expected to commit 5-6 hours a week alongside Wednesday fixtures.

  Women’s 3rd Team

  The Women’s 3rd Team currently competes in the second tier of BUCS and players are expected to commit to 4-5 hours a week alongside Wednesday fixtures.

  Women’s Development Squad

  The Development Squad offers a more relaxed playing experience with only one training session a week and occasional friendly fixtures. This team is available to players with or without experience and does not have trials.

  Men’s 1st Team

  The Men’s Lacrosse Team competes in BUCS Scottish Tier 1 on Wednesdays, alongside Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

  The squad is open to all playing abilities and no-one is ever excluded or cut from the team. Practice/shootaround takes place once a week on Sundays, but the team often organises additional recreational games of basketball to keep cardio fitness up.

  British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships

  

  Saints Lacrosse currently supports 3 competitive women’s squads and 1 competitive men’s squad.

  All teams who compete in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championship.

  British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national governing body for higher education sport in the UK.

  Each squad competes on a weekly basis throughout term time in the tiered BUCS league structure and BUCS knockout competitions, contributing to the University’s overall standing in the BUCS points table.

  Performance Centre

  Following a multi-million pound redevelopment of the Performance Centre, students at St Andrews have access to some of the best sports facilities in Scotland.

  Saints Sport offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, which are available all year round.

  3G and Sand-dressed pitches
  The fully floodlit 3G and sand-dressed pitches offer all-weather training options all year round and benefit from video analysis cameras. The 3G pitch provides an alternative venue for matches to complement the dedicated grass lacrosse pitch.

• How to get involved

  

  Whether you are new to the sport or an experienced lacrosse player, already attend the University or if you are thinking about attending, please get in touch to register your interest and find out more about our club.

  Sports Fayre

  The University hosts a Sports Fayre at the beginning of each academic year during Orientation Week, giving prospective players the opportunity to learn about the club and sign up to ‘Give It A Go’ sessions. Members of our committee will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

  Give It A Go

  We generally hold our GIAG sessions on the Wednesday of Orientation week (please check our social media channels and the orientation app for updates nearer the time).

  Pre-season

  For any students already playing competitive lacrosse we urge you to get in touch during the spring/summer so we can determine if you would be suitable to attend our pre-season training camp. Pre-season generally runs 7-9 days before Orientation Week each year.
